The reality television series films in Atlanta, Georgia.

The narrative of the show centers around the lives of these men and women who are active on the hip hop scene in Atlanta. The show follows the various twists and turns, love, betrayals, marriage, divorce, good times and bad, wins and losses, of these men and women.

Hip Hop as a movement can be traced back to the early 1970’s. it is reported to have been started by youths who lived in the Bronx. Interestingly, these youths where not only African-American but also Latino-American. This shows that hip hop is not just about music but a blend of history and a tribute to a certain time in American history which has now become a culture. Hip Hop has also evolved from been culture to becoming an art movement. This has made hip hop a lifestyle which has different characters and players in it. This is what the show Love and Hip Hop Atlanta captures.

From the premier of its first episode over seven years ago, the show has recorded some good successes. Since then, till now the show has had over 140 episodes shown on tv. Although there have been critics which are of the opinion that the show doesn’t portray positivity, ‘it is ratchet’, focuses on dysfunctional relationships, violence, the show has and is still a major success.

The show is a part of the Love and Hip Hop franchise. There are others which show the lives of hip hop players in different other states like Love and Hip Hop; New York but the Atlanta version of the franchise is noted as the highest rated of them all. The first episode of the eight season when it aired was watched by over 1.2 million viewers and at the end of the first season over 5.5 million viewers watched. This numbers where not just flashes in the pan for the show because as of the end of the third season of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, over 5.6 million viewers watched the show. There are other more successful tv shows out there with higher ratings and great storylines but, this show is different because we get to follow the real lives of people as they battle different challenges and wins which we can relate with. From infidelity, to pregnancies, jail time, bad decisions, fights, friends turn enemies, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, will give you drama every single step of the way.

The show is presently in its eight season and there have been some mixed reactions by viewers about the show. With the coming of the eight season, there has been the introduction of some new cast members who were given sufficient screen time. Some viewers claim that the original cast members who were the reason they stick with the show didn’t have enough screen time. What we say is, shows evolve. This is particularly true with reality television as we meet new people, we form new relationships, people come and go from our lives. All this added would see the show taking a new turn. Nevertheless, the main characters of the show are still in there.

So, to answer the question, is Love and Hip Hop; Atlanta a good show to watch? The answer is yes. The show is entertaining and shows you the lives of real people. We get to see the way they navigate through different situations both those they caused and those situations that were thrust upon them. If you want to watch drama, then this is the show for you. Yeah, there where some really low points in the show this season as regards the cast and the direction of the story. Watching the play out of the relationship between Kirk and Rasheeda, Karlie or Keisha Reed doesn’t seem to get that her bad decisions are the reason why her life is a mess, Sierra still hasn’t learnt her lesson that ‘you cant get a different result by making the same choices’, in all this the show is still entertaining and a good one to watch and now is a good time to catch up with all the drama and lives of these people. Catching up is easy. All you have to do is click love and hip hop watch online here to bring you up to speed with the show. Remember the show is in its eight season, so it would make a whole lot of sense to begin at the first season to get enough background about the show.

Still going back to some negative reviews, well even the best of the best tv shows have also been criticized. There have been outright brawls, strong language that is also offensive, but the show is rated 18 and above, so we think you can handle it.

With all said and done, the show is a good watch which follows the lives of these men and women. Despite the drama which often times seems to be the focus of the show, there is an underlying message which is women trying to make it in a male dominated hip hop world. Almost all the women on the show are in the hip hop music scene and the show brings to us the successes and strides they have made in the hip hop industry. This is another good reason why the show is a good watch and we would recommend you see it. Be ready for the drama though as this show has loads of it.
